Summer Game - Winter Game - A Fun Family & Group Game For Any Season

This is the perfect game for that next hot summer day... and that next cold winter day! Wait... a game for both winter and summer... is that right? Yes, 'Wet Launch' can be adapted no matter what the weather is like outside, and it is an extremely fun game regardless of when you play. Although it is just one of the many fun summer / winter games, it is one that kids, youth, and adults seem to enjoy the most - whether it is summer or winter!

WET LAUNCH

# of Players: 4 or more

Objects Needed: Water Balloons, Buckets (or snow)

To begin, divide everyone playing into pairs - one person from each pair will be the thrower, and the other will be the catcher. Then, form a throwing line where the throwers from each pairwill throw from; and about 40-50 feet away, each pair will have their own 10x10 foot area (box) where the catcher will stand in. (These 10x10 foot boxes will be side by side in a horizontal row parallel to the throwing line, with about 5-10 feet in between each 10x10 box). The catchers will each stand in their respective box with a bucket, and the throwers will thus spread out along the throwing line directly across from their partner's box. Then, fill up roughly 100 water balloons in preparation, and each thrower will start with 5 water balloons each.

Each thrower will get 5 throws, and will throw the water balloons to their catcher in the box. The catcher is trying to catch the water balloon(s) in the bucket, and keep as much water in the bucket as possible. However, catchers can not leave the box when attempting to catch a balloon; thus, if a bad throw would cause the catcher to leave the box, it does not count if the catcher has to leave the box to catch it. After the 5 throws, each pair will switch places, and the new thrower will likewise throw 5 water balloons to their partner. Then, after those 5 throws, each team will empty their bucket of water into a different team bucket (simply to just hold water between throws). Then, players will switch roles again and start another round doing the same thing. The pair that has the most water in their team bucket after each player has thrown 3 times is the winner (use a ruler or yard stick to measure the water)!

VARIATION: To play this fun game in the Winter time - rather than using water balloons, simply use snow balls and try to be the team to collect the most snow in your team bucket!
