What You Need to Know About the XBox 360, the Kinect, and a Review of All Kinect Games

A NEW WAY TO GAME! IS THE XBOX 360 KINECT THE RIGHT NEXT GADGET FOR YOU?

There are a plethora of game systems and games out there. Why should you consider the xBox 360 and the new Kinect? What will the Kinect do for you? Some have claimed it will change your life, will it do that? What games are available for the Kinect and do they really work well enough to justify the cost, the time, and the trouble? Is there enough variety to suit your needs?

This article will give the positives and negatives of the xBox 360 and the new Kinect. What can be accomplished with this system and why consider getting a Kinect for yourself and your family? How well does it work?

Let's start with a little bit of history xBox 360 for you. If you will go way back in your mind and remember that the xBox 360 is a sixth generation video game by Microsoft. This group of games was known as the 128-bit era game consoles. The xBox was actually released November 2001. However, the xBox 360 is the second video game console produced by Microsoft (the first was the xBox). It now competes well with the Sony's PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii, as part of the seventh generation of video game consoles, the xBox 360 was the first of that creative age introducing HD and 1080p into the game playing mix in November 2005.

The xBox 360 was officially unveiled on television. The announcement was on MTV in 2005. Coming up to more modern time the xBox 360 was known as the xBox 360 S, but now we just call it the xBox 360. The consoles have been redesigned, as well as the hardware, and that innovation was officially announced in June 2010. And word is that Microsoft has announced, covertly, that if they ever (and with their current popularity I'm sure they will) come out with another console as a successor to the xBox 360 S it will be simply called xBox 720. The initial rumors are very intriguing.

The second edition of the xBox 360, which included 4 GB of storage, was a prelude to the current box. The xBox 360 Elite came out middle of 2010. But with the avalanche of new games being designed and released it pressured Microsoft to upgrade their hardware.

Isn't that always the case with hardware and software? It goes like this: Software becomes more complicated and needs faster processors, larger computers and capacity. And so the hardware designers and manufacturers have to race to keep up. It's the same with the gaming genre. Try playing Halo Reach on your old xBox. It's not happening.

Thus in August of 2010 Microsoft announced that they had a mega model, a 250 GB stand-alone hard drive for use with the xBox 360 S models, and that would be priced initially at $129.99.

The features of each of these models and core systems are interesting, but it is beyond the scope of this review. The remarkable features, capabilities and the capacities of the devices improved with each progressive model. Microsoft became one of the big guns in the gaming console market and will remain there with this system.

This past Christmas buying season of 2010, the xBox 360 was bundled for better consumer purchasing power, which, among others, featured the Limited Edition, as well as some of the more popular games such as the Halo Reach, Call of Duty Black Ops, and other special features including wireless remotes controllers and head-sets.

The online service is called xBox Live. This is a worldwide service that allows users to play with and against other online players or download purchased content, experience new games and it also offers movies, game trailers, game demos that can be played for a short trial period encouraging the user to then go on to purchase the full game.

There are xBox Live arcade games, images, dashboard themes as well. Through xBox Live, a person can discover new undiscovered content. There are Gold Memberships, which allows you to purchase Microsoft Points to use for downloads avatars and add-ons or additions to your current games. Those prepaid cards come in 400, 800, 1600, 4000, and 6000 point denominations for an equivalent amount of money.

I will reveal some interesting details about the negative attributes of the xBox and xBox 360. It may be a surprise to a newbie, thinking that there were not any negatives. But there are...or were.

It seems that the console can be subject to a number of technical problems. Users have reported concerns over its reliability and alarming failure rate in the older models. That led Microsoft to extend the xBox 360 S warranty to three years for hardware failure problems. Users were getting the dreaded red ring of death and a message announcing general hardware failure.

Microsoft unquestionably did not want to leave their customers hanging and helpless. It attempted to modify the consoles to improve its reliability. The unit was subsequently put together much better and inside the unit there is not as much movement in the main (mother) board during the heat expansion and now the unit has better ability to dissipate heat.

With the release of this redesigned xBox 360 the warranty on the newer models does not include the three year extended warranty for general hardware failure. The word from the experienced gaming community is that the xBox 360 is a very reliable machine and the user complaints and failures of the past have not surfaced.

The new xBox 360s are very reliable. Overall, I rate the xBox 360 5-Stars. It is now the standard in the current industry. They are the leader and the other companies are trying to keep up.

Now we enter into the realm of the new and eye-popping Kinect. This is an amazing addition to our adventures in creative and all-consuming, mind-and-body gaming. It is a controller-free input device and a big step up in the entertainment experience for the xBox 360.

It was initially announced June of 2009. Sadly, it was not released until November 2010. This amazing sensor device enables the user to control and interact with the games of the xBox 360 without a physical game controller. This is similar to the Wii, but the user is not limited to holding and pointing a controller and Nunchuk. The amazing Kinect uses body gestures, spoken commands, and objects and images. It's the EYE that works the magic! The Kinect is compatible with all 360 models. The Kinect...connects to new models with the custom "Kinector." The old consoles used a USB adapter.

Along with the new games, the Kinect is called the new xBox experience (NXE). Along with the NXE there are many new features that users can install into their gaming world. There are games from disks loaded onto the hard drive and then played with reduced load time and less disk drive noise. That is comforting, but each time the game is played the disk must remain in the system in order to run it.

There are also a cool bunch of digitized avatars that can be used for multiple activities, such as sharing photos and playing arcade games.

The xBox 360 and the Kinect were so popular during the Christmas season that it sold out in many stores as well as the major online sites. The demand exceeded the supply. Since the Christmas rush has past you have the opportunity to get discounted prices and lots of selection and availability.

I looked in the retail and online outlets and have compiled an updated list for current supplies of all available and announced games. There are a growing number of supplies, but here I will give you the most up-to-date list of games available for the Kinect.

• To begin with the fitness game called Your Shape Fitness Evolved. It contains workouts in a martial arts class lead by a celebrity trainer. Big names that work on the Biggest Loser show.

• There is Kinect Sports, These are world-class sports. Kinect Sports includes a bowling alley, soccer pitch or track-and-field arena. Kinect puts in the game as the VIP player and somehow lets you be the controller. It apparently also includes soccer, volleyball, ping-pong, and even more games they tell me.

• Get your groove on with Dance Central?. This is exclusive for the Kinect and is the first real dance game experience that will be fun, social and for everyone!

• The very cute and much advertised game is Kinectimals. This is great fun for children of all ages. You get to play with an animal on your xBox 360 screen. The TV advertisements show an irresistible tiger. I thought there would be many more animals, but I guess the furry tiger does it all. That's cool. The Bengal tiger cub will bring back an dream of being in the circus or of your trip to the zoo. The Kinect lets that furry tiger become your best friend. See now you don't need that indoor pet after all.

• Listen to this, If you really want to get the Ultimate Experience then get the Kinectimals Limited Edition Bundle with King Cheetah Plush. It is the entire package.

• Motion Sports, Play for Real, this looks like a game that you do sports motions and keep moving; great aerobic exercise. It has a wide range of sports, like it says you can zoom down slopes of a Super G slalom, score a mind-blowing penalty shot, duck-and-run your way to a game-winning touchdown or throw punches at the champ." I don't know about all that, but it look like some really exciting exercise.

• Kinect Joyride is a fun ride in a car, but I do not think it is a "stolen" car, but it is a Joyride. Kinect Joy Ride, the first controller-free racing game that combines wild kart racing with full-body controlling possible only with Kinect for Xbox 360.

• Sonic Free Riders is more action. It has speed and a finish line. This one takes your whole body to control a variety of hoverboards and bikes. This one may NOT be easy to pick up and play and be the hero. It matches family and friends in multiplayer modes. Each racer can have their own unique rules.

• And then the game that we all need to get is the Ultimate Workout, Biggest Loser style. You will work out with Bob and Jillian, the best workout coaches ever. The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout will maximize your healthy diet. It boasts 50 new, healthy recipes. You can also track your caloric intake. This "game" is for real and will even give you real-time feedback that says you'll see immediate results.

• Can you dance? You will! DanceMasters lets you dance with nothing to constrain your movement and freedom. Different modes: Dance Mode, Lesson Mode, Status Mode, Xbox Live. There is even downloadable content. Next step is Dancing with the Stars for you!.

• Zumba Fitness Kinect. Everyone loves a Zumba! This game is for up to four players. Family or online players compete to get the highest workout group score or individual in Zumba Attack! Action, Dancing, and great fun.

• EA Sports, Active 2.0. It's in the Game! Build muscle, track your heart rate. There seems to be an unlimited customizable workout option with more than 70 games.

• Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One. The wand and real magic! You get an arsenal of formidable spells to defeat Death Eaters and enemies to all good Harry Potter stand-ins. Fight Voldemort's Death Eaters, Snatchers and Dementors.

• Deca Sports Freedom. This features ten athletic games to life: Tennis, you can even twing the bowstrings then play. Ten different events: tennis, boxing, archery, paintball, beach volleyball, dodgeball, kendo, mogul skiing, snowboard cross and figure skating. They really pack it in.

• Game Party: In Motion. This is a family-friendly collection of 16 arcade type games. The list is long: Darts, Hoop Shoot, Rootbeer Tapper, Table Hockey and 12 more. Multi player action and support available online and meet up to 16 players. Design and use your avatar and Facebook cross functionality. Now that is really covering all the bases.

• Fighters Uncaged, looks like a major adventure in fighting and the cover is really great. You can upgrade your fighter. The game and the Kinect lets you use your fists, knees, legs, elbows and even head. Take THAT mangy opponent!

• The next is Adrenaline Misfits. This is for single players or two players. The race includes 7 fantasy worlds and 7 monsters that need defeated. The soon-to-be-conquered course are like Snowy Mountains, stormy deserts, glacier lands, limestone caves, and volcanoes. This one also hooks up to xBox Live.

• And then another called Child of Eden. Graphics and sound combine to stimulate the senses. It is a physical, sensory experience.

• Star Wars Kinect is on the list but is not scheduled to be released for a year.

• Brunswick Pro Bowling, It is bowling for everyone, however kids have options which let them compete with the pros.

• Michael Jackson and the Experience. Put yourself into the game and be one of the stars in your own Michael Jackson video. This one looks awesome, if it includes "Thriller"! Dancers and Michael's Dance School take your performance to the next level. For beginners and experienced performers.

The price of the game seems to range from about $34 to others that are priced around $60. And for $40 you can even get a Kinect Mount that puts the sensor at just exactly the right position.

Now as far are reviewing the Kinect and the games: The public's experience is still new and since the Kinect has only been sold for less than two months, with the accompanying games the whole system is still novel and shiny new.

But it seems to this reviewer and others in the industry, that this is a brand-new paradigm in games and indoor exercise and it will shape the industry's future. The Kinect is changing the industry.

The xBox 360 and the Kinect are now in stock currently at Amazon and many other retailers and there are also very nice bundles to get the xBox 360 plus the Kinect as well as other hardware and games. It is very nice to get a bundle. It saves money in the long run - in the short run also. The Kinect also has some very nice price discounts.

James, my gaming colleague, is still stirred by his xBox 360 and he is an expert gamer. James says his xBox 360 experience, as well as the many games that he has played notes that the new Xbox 360 250GB is faster than other systems he's tried. The graphics are better and he noticed more advanced corporeal levels.

I asked him, "James, would you ever go back to another game system?" He replied, "Possibly the PS3 as a second," as he believes it is a close competitor.

Games Cheat

Games Cheat

Another name for game cheats would be cheat codes. The original purpose of the games cheat was to allow developers and beta testers to be able to get to a specific area and not have to start the games over all the time. It was then also an option if a player got to a difficult place in the games and could not advance, the option was available to use the games cheat to advance and go on with the game. Some game cheats would open up new sections, hidden areas, or other types of bonus features. For our article we are going to take a look at the games cheat in reference to online gaming.

If you have ever played games online the odds are you have run into someone cheating. This would be especially true if the game does not include some kind of anti-cheat program. In simple terms cheating is "modifying the game to gain an unfair advantage over the other players. It is at this point we would like to point out that most developers do not build the games cheat into multiplayer games for this reason.

There is a big debate among gamers on what a real cheat is and what isn't. Some feel that only such things as a aimbot is a games cheat but custom skins, and settings that enhance performance is not. Still others feel that it doesn't matter a cheat is a cheat. For example in one game a video card with a specific video driver will not show fog or it lets you actually see through walls. Some feel that is more than adjusting settings while others feel it's not their fault so it's perfectly OK to use that advantage. Then there was a game that had a flaw in it when you also were running MS Messenger. Both these were not intentionally built into the game by developers. Others however felt this was more than adjusting your gamma, brightness and other settings to improve performance so they were game cheats.

There are two other ways of cheating. These two almost everyone in the online gaming community, feel are definitely a games cheat. The first is an exploit.

With an exploit a bug is found on a specific level or game map. The developers didn't purposely include them, but once found they are very quickly used as a games cheat. Examples would be a hole in a game that would allow you to kill other players but never be hurt or killed yourself. It could have been a piece of code that accidentally got left in the game. These may have been used by the designers for a specific purpose. Sometimes these exploits will be addressed with update patches, but many times they will stay as the developers feel they are not a high priority.

Hacked files, trainers, aimbots, are other forms of a games cheat. These type of game cheats are mostly the work of people who are adept at coding or programming. The reason for this is this games cheat entails modifying game and or driver files. These modified files are then loaded directly into memory in which case they by-pass the game itself.

So the ultimate decision is based on your own definition of a games cheat as to if you are cheating or not. However it should be mentioned that if you are playing on-line and the rest of the players feel it is cheating you should discontinue what you are doing. Just out of courtesy for others. This way everyone can enjoy the game and this is what the developers did intend.

Video Game Rental: A Real Money Saver

What is my best option if I like video games, but don’t find it cost effective to buy all the expensive games? The answer depends a little bit on what kind of game system you are using, but the truth is there is only one answer: video game rental. Home video game systems can be a lot of fun, but the games can be very expensive. That can be a real problem if you don’t have the time to play them or if the game you are playing has a definitive end. No matter the reason, video game rental will prevent you from spending too much on your home video game entertainment.

Video games, though becoming more affordable and more exciting, are very expensive. Even after you have purchased your home gaming system, you still need to purchase the actual game to play on that system. That can be expensive since games can be as much as $60, $70, or even more. By using video game rental, you can curb that cost. Generally you can rent a game for just a few dollars and keep it for a few days. If you don’t play your system very often, then you have saved a lot of money you would have spent on purchasing the game. Video game rental can definitely be a real money saver.

Another reason to consider video game rental is for testing a game you are considering purchasing. If, for instance, you enjoy playing games and are willing to put down the money to purchase a certain game, you want to be sure you actually like it. What you can do is go out and get a video game rental of the game you are considering. For a few dollars you can play it for a day or so. If you don’t like it, then you are only out the cost of the video game rental. On the other hand, had you bought it and then found out you don’t like it, you may not be able to return it for the full purchase price

A final reason for considering a video game rental for games that may have a distinct ending. Some games, like adventuring games, have an end point. Once you have figured out how to win the game, it is useless to you. If you are good at adventure games and can win them quickly than you may find that you are forking out a lot of money for a game that is useless to you in a few days. A video game rental can save you that money.

If you love video games and playing them on your home system, you know how expensive that can be. The cost of the system is a lot, but then you have to buy games for your system, which is quite an added expense. However, one way to curb that cost is through video game rentals. By renting games [http://www.evergladenews.com/category/entertainment-online] instead of buying them you can save yourself money in a couple of ways. You can play a game to its end, you can test a game for purchase, or just play a game you know you wouldn’t play enough to justify the cost. No matter what, you can save yourself hassle and money with a video game rental.

Fun Educational Games for Your Kids

There are many games out there for kids, including board games, video games, and computer games. It is very easy to just go out and purchase games for your kids; however, you should be taking the time to focus on how educational the games you buy will be for your children. No doubt your kids love having fun, but incorporating education with that fun is a great way to get your kids to learn important lessons while having a great time too.

If you are considering purchasing some games for your kids, why not consider some educational ones for them. You can provide your kids with great learning tools while they still have a great time. Instead of letting your kids spend hours of their time playing games that teach them nothing, you can have them spending their time playing games that are educational instead. Having your kids play educational games can help them learn new skills, enhance the skills they have, and incorporate other skills they have already learned too. More than likely the games will be so much fun that your child will never even realize that the games are so educational.

Many kids seem to think that learning is boring, and usually they do not want to spend more time learning something or working on their skills. If you can use games to bring education and fun together, no doubt your children will love it and they will be learning while they are playing.

Parents want their kids to learn and kids want to have a good time. When you combine learning and fun together, you get the best results. The following are some great educational games that your children may enjoy playing:

- Brain Games - Game like Rubik's Cube and Sudoku that will challenge their brain.

- Math Games - Games that will teach your kids math with great games.

- Reading Games - Games that will hone your child's reading skills, which are very important.

- Bible Games - Game that will teach your kids more about the Bible.

- History Games - These games will open up the world of history and make it fun.

- Science Games - Science can be great fun, and science games can teach your kids more about science.

- Board Games - Great family fun that can be educational too.

- Music Games - Teaching kids more about music while they play an exciting game.

- Geography Games - Games that teach kids more about the world they are living in.

- Spelling Games - You can prepare your kids for spelling tests at school with these fun and exciting games.

There are so many different educational games out there, and there are even some great educational computer games too. While you kids are in school, the computer will no doubt be a tool for learning. There are many computer games that are educational, but when you are purchasing these games there are a few things you need to remember. Make sure that you buy age appropriate games and games that are appropriate for their skills as well.

You also should pick some games that will build up their strong skills, but remember to get some games that will also help them focus on any weaker spots they may have too. You want your child to learn while having fun with these games, so make sure that they combine learning and fun for a great game.

Picking up skills can be fun, and games can be educational. Give your kids the best of both worlds, come visit 123KidsGames.com - Educational Kids Games [http://www.123kidsgames.com] and discover the best, most fun way to grow and learn.

E- Games- The New Age Entertainment Sports

In the age of Internet, E-Games is an irresistible attraction amongst all age groups. The desire to play games has turned children to be more techno savvy these days. E-Games are flexible and intuitive, it's easy to use so you can spend your time creating games instead of programming them.

You can increase business effectiveness by easily adding more motivation and challenge to your learning programs. With the advent of E-Learning, even Training Games are transforming. Indeed, because Computer Games and Arcades are commonplace, instructional games may be the perfect candidate for e-learning events.

Trainers understand the value of a good game for engaging participants in the learning process, whether as pre-course materials, self-teaching tools, or content reviews. Most games draw on traditional game-show styles such as Jeopardy, or popular boardgames, including Trivial Pursuit and Monopoly. The question-and-answer format of those games proves ideal for self-assessment and memory building. When played in groups, games promote teambuilding and team spirit. More importantly, games alleviate learners' anxiety about being evaluated.

A sophisticated programmed E-Game usually includes the following features:

· Easy, intuitive authoring interfaces.

· An array of different game types.

· Detailed Help files, sample games, and demonstrations.

· Cross-platform playback using the Flash web player.

· No messy software downloads or installation requirements.

· Options to create games from your web browser.

· You can choose from several skins for your games, including a custom skin that allows you to modify the colors.

· Full customization for any of the game types.

· Your own online Arcade system that allows you to group your games into custom multi-player arcades and invite players to compete.

The average age of an E-Game Player is 29 years and ninety two percent of all games are purchased by adults over the age of 18. 39% E-Game players are women. Computer and video game software sales grew 8% in 2003 to $ 7 billion in the following years and are expected to hike more. However, when compared to the movie industry this segment is still a small player.

In fiscal 2004, ended June 30, E-Games' sales rose 11% to $8 million, and profit increased 9%, to $1.7 million, from a year earlier. It did have a loss of $184,000 in its 2005 fiscal first quarter, after sales were hurt when Wal-Mart Stores Inc. reduced shelf space it allocates to low-price PC games, E-Games says.

Some very sought after E-Games are as follows:

1. AirXonix: This is a 3-dimensional remake of the Xonix game. In the Xonix game you have to control a device, which is moving over the playing field whilst several monster-balls are wandering inside. The objective is to isolate the balls away from as much spare playing field as possible.

2. Buzzing Cars: Buzzing Cars is a totally crazy racing game where you'll not only need to be fast but also smart. You must carry out various missions such as drive robots around, chase flying saucers, electrocute aliens and of course race against the clock. You can buy seven different cars with various properties. In every crash, the cars begin to lose parts, until eventually after enough is lost they completely fall apart.

3. Cross & Word Games: A compilation of three simple puzzle games previously released by E-Games in their early RomTech days. Crossword Mania is a set of 110 crossword puzzles and Word Search Mania has 222 word searches. Both of these pencil and paper to keyboard and monitor translations also have basic design tools for constructing your own puzzles. Word Connect Special Edition is a one board demo of a Scrabble clone where players try to form interlocking words on a board with lettered tiles.

4. Mahjongg Master: Enjoy the classic Chinese game of strategy with this full-featured version! You'll find 18 original tile sets -- everything from classic MahJongg tiles to all new designs! You can also choose from among 70 beautiful backgrounds including scenics, animals, textures, and much more. Plus great music, too! MahJongg Master is one of E-Games best-selling titles. There are millions of players around the world.

5. Marble Blast: In this arcade action game from independent publisher Garage Games, players take the control of marbles. The objective of the game is to race the marble through the 72 levels each containing moving platforms, dangerous hazards, sparkling treasures and power up enhancements, and complete it in record time.

6. Miniverse Minigolf: Two 9 hole mini golf courses for 1-4 players. One course is set on "Earth" and features putting through locations such as a construction site, a war zone, and a casino. The other course is set in space and includes a variety of science fiction obstacles like tele-porters and laser shields. Players can choose to control their putter by pushing or pulling the mouse and can select one of several different colors for their golf ball.

7. Pinball: E-Games' Pinball is a 3D pinball simulation with three tables. 3D acceleration is used for all sorts of realistic effects like table glass, light halos, shadows, reflections of the ball on the table, and more. Standard pinball game play applies; knock down targets to light up bonuses, which can be further increased by multipliers.

8. Word Search Mania: A computerized version of the standard pencil and paper word search. Word Search Mania is a collection of 222 assorted puzzles with a variety of strange topics in varying degrees of difficulty. It also contains a tool for building puzzles from your own lists of words.

MMORPG-Multiplayer Online Gaming

MMORPG, as defined by Wikipedia; "MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) is a genre of online computer role-playing games (RPGs) in which a large number of players interact with one another in a virtual world. As in all RPGs, players assume the role of a fictional character (most commonly in a fantasy setting) and take control over many of that character's actions. MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player RPGs by the number of players, and by the game's persistent world, usually hosted by the game's publisher, which continues to exist and evolve while the player is away from the game.

MMORPGs are very popular throughout the world, with combined global memberships in subscription and non-subscription games exceeding 15 million as of 2006. Overall, revenues for MMORPGs exceeded half a billion dollars in 2005 and are expected to reach over a billion dollars by 2009." (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

If there ever were something that has truly become a unique innovation in videogames, it would be online gaming and its ability to provide for multiplayer games. Now, multiplayer online gaming is not something that is new as it has been around for eight years having debuted with DOOM in 1998. Multiplayer online gaming, however, was not instantaneously popular across the whole spectrum of PC gamers. It took a while for the ball to get rolling, but when it finally did start to gain momentum that the following that developed has seemingly exceeded even the most optimistic expectations of the early days.

Defining Multiplayer Online Gaming

For those not familiar with the term, multiplayer online gaming involves several players can participate in an online game at the same time. They can work as a team facing the computer or they can play against each other. It has been said that multiplayer games of this nature were the first shift from computer games where a human faces an artificial intelligence to where humans play against other humans. In a way, this phase that online games have entered seems to be a return to the past in terms of delivering the same purpose of games of old.

The Old Days

Parker Brothers did not make a mint selling all those board games because the games were fascinating to play. (Most of the games were extremely simple minded, but benefited from excellent marketing campaigns) Part of the reason families and individuals loved to play these games was because they were social events where people could get together and have a lot of fun interacting. Yes, there were competitive people who took playing the board games too serious at times, but generally people liked to spend time together and have a blast with these classic games.

When videogames became more and more popular, the games took a protracted approach to developing one player games. This ended up killing off a great deal of the benefits of social interaction. With the advent of multiplayer online gaming, video and computer games have joined the realm of social interaction filling the seeming void formerly held by board games. (Board games, however, are still popular and sell strong)

Multiplayer PC games serve and excellent purpose of increasing the social lines of communication between people all across the globe and will probably continue to expand in volume and popularity.

Gaming Captures the Hearts of Gamers, Alleviates Loneliness and Creates a New Market for Businesses

Gaming is popular with teenagers, women, children, as well as men. Older people say they play games as it alleviates loneliness and puts them in contact with others. Statistics reveal that 41% of gamers are women and more than 43 % gamers are aged 25-49. And, research predicts that the games market in 2005 will be US$ 29 billion.

Players can choose between stored games and online games. Stored games are played on consoles while online games are played on a computer using either a broadband or dial up Internet connection. The growth in online gaming according to IDC, a research firm, is set to touch 256 million users by 2008. And, that gaming is serious business is conformed by the hosting of international conferences devoted to gaming and the formation of "Casual Games Special Interest Group."

Gaming captures the imagination of the players and uses the senses: sight, sound, as well as touch. Many need the use of intelligence as well as strategy. Complex graphics, colors, high quality virtual realities are all set to grab as well as hold the attention of players. Multi-player gaming takes the interest to the next level -offers challenges as well as new horizons to be conquered.

Games played on the Internet are such that clever participants find ways to push the game beyond its visible limits, one can even device cheats to circumvent problems posed by the game. Games test the skills, intelligence, concentration ability as well as techie know how.

Online gaming architecture has six business aspects: the subscriber; the advertiser; the gaming platform provider; the broadband service provider; the network service provider; and the gaming content provider. It is big business--hardware revenues in 2005 are expected to be: US$ 9.4 billion with software and content revenue touching US$16.9 billion.

However, there is a downside, gaming can become addicted and affect normal life--kids stop studying, housewives neglect their daily routine, and people are tempted to play games even at work. It can lead to suicides, mental imbalance as well as destroy marriages and careers. Gamers become recluses and rarely make social contact outside their gaming groups.

Addiction studies indicate that gaming can result in: obsession, neglect, lying, socially unacceptable behaviors, carpal tunnel syndrome, dry eyes, neglect of personal hygiene, as well as sleep disorders.

Popular gaming sites include: MSN games which has 3.4 million monthly registered users ; Pogo which has 8.6 million monthly registered users; and Yahoo games which has 10.1 million registered monthly users.

Analysts predict that by 2007 online gaming will be at least 285 petabits a month, the revenue generated by online subscriptions for gaming is expected to reach US$ 650 million annually.

The future according to Peter Molyneux, is in developing games that "reward a player for "out of the box" thinking and creativity. Games must encourage players to be interactive and decide the direction the game will take.

Video Games Are The Future

*Thirty Five Years Ago

The fledgling video game business was struggling to make a name for itself as it competed with toys, playing cards and board games for customers. The early games like Pong, Pac Man and Donkey Kong were very basic in terms of technology, and they had very little creativity involved with their designs and functions. Today, the computer online game industry is a multi billion dollar extravaganza that has progressed increasingly, and it is starting to steal some of the spotlight from the glamorous motion picture industry.

With technological advances like the next generation motion capture systems, high definition graphics, Dolby Sound and Motion Sensor Remote controls that enable the players to actually get up off their chairs and get some exercise as they kick, punch, jump, fish, swing, golf and dance their way through sessions, video games have become more than just toys. They are an escape that offers a whole new reality. Kids and adults alike are playing Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii games more than ever before and the industry itself is getting bigger and bigger every day.

But there is one great advantage that video games have over movies, and that is that they offer interaction. You can actually be involved with what is happening on the screen, instead of just watching it like you do at a theater. This gives you the feeling of empowerment that you just do not get from watching movies. These games offer more than an escape, they offer a journey into another world where your actions have no real negative consequences on yourself.

Video games have come a long way since the days of Pong, Pac Man and Donkey Kong. While the Video Game Awards are not quite the Oscars yet, they are certainly on a pace to give them a run for their money in the future in terms of publicity. Celebrities are starting to notice that the spotlight on Hollywood is being shared by a newcomer to the world of entertainment, and they are following the light, as they do naturally. It is an inevitable natural progression, much like the relationship between a whale and a pilot fish. Big celebrity names are starting to integrate into the computer game industry, and as this happens it only means more publicity for both parties involved. This is ultimately good for gamers too, for as the industry gets bigger and bigger, the games and the consoles will only get better and better.

Recently, many new online gaming services have been introduced. The world is having a visible affect on the online gaming industry, as more and more people turned towards playing and enjoying online games. Games on the Internet were once an imaginary phrase, but since the introduction of thousands of user friendly and easy operating games on the Internet, people are finding that fiction has become reality.

*Chill out and Play Games

One of the best ways the majority of us relax, stay engaged, stave off boredom, or even burn away hours at work is to play games video games, online computer games (if you dont know there are probably a few addictive games in your word program, right?), or online games.

While we now know, too, that when you play games (of any mode and of certain types), those games help to sharpen some of our mental faculties, Alzheimers, and, in my coo-coo world, the insanity of such needful mental aberrations as ADD, ADHD, and OCDthough this last benefit is not necessarily empirically proven. There has been quite a bit of research done on this topic and you can bet there will be a whole lot more to come.

So lets sit back, kick our shoes off, and relax playing your favorit games.

In the world of Flash enabled games the hosting system is the web server itself. Flash enables web sites to host animated as well as interactive movies and games. There is no paraphernalia required. All that is needed is to download the game itself. The costs are minimal and not recurring.

To play on the web all that is required is: a web browser, a Flash player, and the Internet. Flash is the universal plug in needed to play games. It is installed on every PC with Windows XP and Mac.

Playing online can be fun and most games can now be played by many players from all round the world. Just keep in mind:

Online Games - Pony Games Are Good For Your Kids

Ponies are animals that are loved by kids, especially by small girls. Whenever you introduce a picture of a pony to a small girl or give her a dummy-pony which is pink in colour, the girl will love it. It is hard to understand why small girls behave this way but that is how they were created. Many small children find ponies lovable and cute. They are known to make the best pets. Many children dream that one day their parents will buy them a pony or will own one for themselves.

For those who may not have the chance of owning one, the closest they can enjoy being around one is by playing pony games or going to a sty where ponies are bred. The latter option cannot be achieved by many parents. The first option is better because quite a number of pet games, including pony games, have been created so that children can have access to them and experience fun playing with ponies. Since ponies are adorable creatures, the most of the games are designed for the child to enjoy himself/herself when playing. The games may have bright colours because children are attracted to bright objects.

Most of the characters that are used in pony games are the ones that are popular with kids. For example, you will get pony games with characters like Mickey Mouse, Pink Panther, Daffy Duck, to mention but a few. The games are usually colourful and graceful.

Many of these games can be found online. Some examples are Pony Racing, Pony Stars, Pony Riding Girl, My Little Pony, Pimp My Pony, Pony Kindergarten, among many others. These are wonderful games that you kids can play.

Apart from the games providing entertainment, they are also educational. This means that parents do not have to be afraid that their children will pick up bad habits. You will get that some school-teachers advising parents to allow their children to play certain pony games. For examples, there are such games that help children learn the alphabet or remember days of the week. However, the pony games can get the child addicted. Thus, it is advisable to regulate how often your child plays this game. Make sure that there is time to play the game and time to do other things.

Mind Games: Puzzle Game Online

What is so special about a Puzzle game? Why do we spend time to solve them? Well, the point is 'Puzzle' is a mind exercise, and it has the ability to catch hold of our attention. When a person sees a puzzle, his/her mind starts racing to find a solution for it. That is why many kids and adults like solving them. They like new challenges, and want their brain to go the extra mile. The satisfaction the person gets after solving a puzzle is immense.

A puzzle, as everyone knows, is a game that involves calculation. You have to calculate each step by predicting the outcome of a particular move. A Puzzle game can be a picture broken into pieces, and arranged in a random fashion. It can be games like Sudoku, the Japanese game that requires the player to fill in numbers in the grids that are empty, and complete a particular order. Then, there is Tower of Hanoi game, Chinese checkers, etc.

Playing a Puzzle game is always special; it challenges you at every turn, and renders you the opportunity to exercise your brain cells. There are many video games that kids like to play, as it contains high graphic detail and sound, and they term it "interesting storyline." Well, these games never allow you to utilize your brain cells. They decrease our response time; but, on the other hand, feed us on violence and rash driving. If you are a parent, we advise you to never let your kids play such games because they might have a negative impact on them.

There are lots of puzzles on the internet; back in our days, we used to go to our favorite game stores and buy a puzzle. The problem with that was that once you solve the puzzle, you would have to buy a new one to get a new challenge. But, today, there is no need to buy games; you can play them online, and many online games are free. The websites that host puzzles put in new challenges every day. The difficulty levels can be adjusted according to your ability. There are websites, which give you the recognition of being the best puzzle solver by publishing your name on the website winner's list.

The puzzle game is getting rare, and kids, nowadays, are turning towards video games, which is a very bad precedent. We hope that people start recognizing the benefits of solving puzzles soon.

We provide the best info about puzzle game. For further details please visit the provided links.

Online Games-Fragging On The Net

Online games - spoken casually or formally - normally refer to video games that are played on a computer using an Internet connection. There are video games that are played online using devices such as video consoles (Playstation, X-Box) and mobile phones, but online games generally mean PC games that can be played only when you are connected to the Internet. These games kicked off in the 1980s even as Internet connectivity was slow and expensive. The earliest versions of these games were simple multiplayer text-based games. In the 1990s these games started getting popular, and today they feature high-end graphics, virtual communities, and lots more.

Types Of Online Games

Online games can be of the following types - (1) First-person shooters: Here the players battle with each other head-to-head. In most first-person shooters games, there are online components that allow deathmatch/arena style play. In these games the view you see in the gameplay is the one seen from your character's eyes. (2) Real-time strategy games: These are games where you have to develop a combat strategy or gameplan by building resources and making a strong army so that you are able to fight with other Internet players. (3) Browser games: These are simple, small, and quick pastime games that can be played on your browser. They are developed using the popular Shockwave or Java technologies. (4) Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG): These are online games that can support thousands of players from all over the world simultaneously, playing with or against each other in a giant virtual world and also interacting with each other. Here a person has to keep leveling up till he reaches the maximum possible level written for the game. These games can keep a gamer engaged for months or even years!

How Online Games Make Money

Today, every game is playable online. The question before the company that is making these games is how to make money. Most companies make single-player games that can be played at home. In these games the player has to overcome the artificially intelligent enemies. These games feature an online multiplayer gameplay model, using which a user can play with or against other Internet players. These companies make their money by selling their game CDs/DVDs [Examples: Warcraft 3, Counter Strike]. The browser game companies survive by revenues generated from advertising and promotions. Many MMORPG companies keep adding content by developing new patches in their games and they charge a monthly fee from the players [Example: Everquest 2, World of Warcraft]. Some of them do not, and survive because of their CD/DVD sales [Example: Guild Wars].

One last thing about the title: "Fragging" in game jargon stands for finishing off a player or an artificially intelligent enemy.

Online Gaming is as Addictive as Heroin

Gaming is big business but it has its downside. People have died from gaming and the world is recognizing that game addiction is serious and spreading fast. Mental health professionals opine that gaming can destroy lives, keep students from focusing on learning, workers from working, and women from their duties. There are instances where gamers have not left home for years.

Games like EverQuest, Dark Age of Camelot, and others are popularly referred to as heroinware. And symptoms of addiction according to Computer Addiction Services at McLean Hospital are: obsession with the game; inability to stop; neglect of family and work; lying to hide activity; problems with studies and work; health problems, muscular as well as vision related; neglect of personal hygiene; as well as sleep disturbances.

The games provide social interaction to lonely people, gamers gain acknowledgement as well as power denied elsewhere due to their gaming expertise, and the game weaves a spell on the mind--one gets so absorbed by the virtual realities that it is hard to get away.

The addiction is so real that it requires intensive therapy. Treatment programs include: behavioral therapy, anti-depressants, as well as prescription drugs.

Not all agree that gaming is addictive. MIT's Games-to-Teach project manager opines that games sharpen critical thinking, improve social skills, and increase empathy. Many others do agree that games inspire imagination, creativity, and team work.

However, the problem is real and countries world over are taking measures. China has set up a clinic in Beijing for net-frazzled addicts to be treated with sports, acupuncture, and medication. The inmates according to the clinic's director have: depression, nervousness, fear, interaction problems, panic, agitation, shaking and numb hands, as well as sleep disorders. Gaming is a serious problem in Korea --- 1-2% of South Korea's online gamers are addicts. The government is taking steps and requesting game developers to create advisory patches to alert gamers to the impeding dangers.

A hard core gamer is one who is completely absorbed by his online fantasy, he isolates himself from family and friends, lets everyday activities fall by the wayside, spends over 16-20 hours a day playing the game and games at work, at home, and while on the road. Gaming becomes his whole life, a thirst that is never quenched.

Treatment is long and hard and like other addictions the first stage is the most difficult, getting the gamer to acknowledge that he or she has a problem. Addicts find it extremely painful to "kill" the characters of the game and to erase /destroy the software. Most are unable to "keep away" and return to the game addictively. Studies indicate that hard core players are often neurotic, shy, have emotional as well as behavioral issues, and problems in the home environment.

To overcome the addiction, the player must consider and analyze the issues underlying the game--it is the question of power, social standing, respect, and emotions.

Gaming is set to become a global epidemic and needs immediate attention as well as solutions.

Superhero Games - Awesome Gaming Experience

All time superheroes, such as Superman, Spiderman and Batman have gained a remarkable place in the world of gaming. Superhero games are designed to provide an awesome gaming experience, backed by character driven stories that make players get a real feel of the character they are playing. The creativity used in depicting the hero's powers coupled with the character's personality is matchless. Therefore, players get to explore the person behind the superhero and get a realistic and fulfilling experience while playing these games.

Superman is considered to be one of the earliest superheroes mainly because hit movies of Superman were released a few decades ago. Even though the fervor for Superman movies and television series seems to have diminished over the years, the superhero has retained a robust presence on the Internet. There are several Superman games online based on different themes. The main reason for his perpetual fame pertains to his immense powers and strength. Most of the games emphasize on his superior strength while a few are centered on his laser vision that is capable of destroying things in seconds. As per the story of Superman, he is actually an alien superhero and not a human. He was sent to Earth when he was an infant, in order to escape the execution that was to come about his parents. In fact, he is considered a trendsetter in the world of superheroes and even today's kids can recognize this old and mighty superhero.

Spiderman is another successful superhero who has crept into the world of games. The character was created in the 1960s comic book, but gained fame in the small screen quickly. Spiderman movies created a sensation among superhero fans. The character has also become famous in online superhero games. There are plenty of free Spiderman online games that can be played without downloading or installing any files. Entering a search phrase for free Spiderman games on search engines will bring search results showing hundreds of websites with many different kinds of flash games. Console games based on this superhero are also popular; the better known games are Marvel vs. Capcom and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. They are also available on Xbox Live and PlayStation.

Batman games are based on Batman, an interesting superhero depicted in a 1939 comic book. His heroic temperament combined with extraordinary powers has made him popular in superhero games. Ever since the launch of the first batman games in 1986, this superhero has retained his fame among gaming enthusiasts. While the most popular means of playing these games is to register with free online gaming sites, playing them on consoles, such as PlayStation, Nintendo DS, Xbox and Wii is also a popular option. The graphics in these games imitate the exact character in the comic book. Batman: Arkham Asylum released in 2011 is a famous game and is considered to be the best of all the batman games.

Whether it is an astounding game involving web-slinging sports or carrying the world on the shoulders, superhero games are enjoyable and amazing for children and adults alike.

Hot Wheels Games for Gaming Counsels

While many people might remember the hot wheels games that they used to play with on the floor, modern technology has taken the loveable die cast cars and moved them to the television screen. From the Wii System to the Xbox 360 and beyond, there are a number of different videogames that both adults and children can enjoy that use these classic cars. Since they are family oriented, moms should be able to give their seal of approval on them as well.

One of those games is one that is called Stunt Track Challenge. In this game, the player assumes the role of a stun car driver that goes through a series of different venues in an attempt to become the best driver in all of the hot wheels games. Of course, we also find that this is a racing game as well, so others can grab a controller and benefit from this game as well. This doesn't mean that your child can't play solo if there isn't anyone around to challenge them. They can in turn choose to go up against some of the AI players and end up expanding their skill sets when they do take on their friends and other family members as well.

Coming truer to the original vision of their creators, Beat That! takes the gaming action to the floors of bedrooms, backyards and more as racers play on the old-fashioned tracks against other AI and real life players to become the top car. Just like the tracks you build, you can also manage and create your own scenarios and end up with a fun and exciting final product that tests the skill of the drivers as well as gain excitement from the process as well. This can also be a great way for you to incorporate the game with the original sets and potentially create an activity that focuses on both imagination and genuine childish fun as well.

While these are the newest games out, we still find that there are more in production. Since children are re-igniting their love for these cars on the TV screen, it won't be too long until the next generation also finds that they love playing with the digital versions of these vehicles, as much as they do with the ones placed on the floor. Be sure that you take the time to try to encourage your child to begin picking out their favorite cars and see what can of fun you can make together.

In fact, there are a number of different tracks available that will work as a great starting point. Some will deal with the color change cars, which might impress them. Others have battery-powered items for the child that needs something mechanical to interest them.

No matter what direction you go in, know that you will be inspiring your child with something that they will love and cherish for the entire lifetime once they've been introduced to the hot wheels games you can find.

Bean Bag Games - Fun Games for Everyone

If it is family fun that you are looking for, then bean bag games are the best. These are safe, children-friendly games that the whole family could enjoy at home. These are considered as both indoor and outdoor games, thereby giving you a great time during sunny afternoons or when the clouds turn grey.

For a long time already, bean bag games have been considered as everybody's favorite. They eliminate the fear of getting hurt because of sharp or really tough gaming paraphernalia. Even young kids could play with these games without the need for you to constantly watch over them. If you have a toddler who puts everything in her mouth, then she must not play with these games as she might accidentally put the bean bag in her mouth. So these games come highly recommended for children who are three years old and above, and for adults too.

For children, the games would usually consist of a board that would have faces of animals, monsters, or even their favorite cartoon characters. The board would have several holes on it and there would be a couple of bean bags included. The bags are small, and the objective of the game is to get the bag to pass right into the hole. Depending on the size and height of the hole, points are given. Those difficultly positioned holes bear much higher points than the others who are deemed as easy-to-score holes. These games with scoring are very applicable to older children who already know what "score" is all about.

For really young children, like three to four year olds, there are games that would have larger 3-level holes and no points are accorded for each hole. All children has to do is to toss the bean bag right into the hole and they would feel like winners.

For adults, there are games that are designed to be played outdoors only. The game would often consist of a rectangular wooden board where a hole would be located at the top portion. Just like children's games, the goal would be to toss the bean bag into the hole. This however, has a higher degree of difficulty since the mechanics of the game would require a certain distance from where the players could toss the bean bags. Whoever gets to toss the bag really well is the winner. This game is fun and could give the family a great afternoon together.
