Family Reunion Games - Fun Games For the Whole Family

Organizing a family reunion can be a fun, yet exhausting proposition. There is the venue (where are you going to have it?), the food (you've got to try and please everyone) and then there's the games. Once you're all together, you'll chat for a while, but family reunion games are fun for everyone and help to break up the day. Some games to consider include relay races, guess who?, and family trivia.

RELAY RACES

There are several varieties of relay races out there. For example, sack races, three-legged races, and the water race.

For sack races, you'll need several large sacks (you can purchase them at your local party supply store) and family members! Designate start and finish lines and off you go!

The three-legged race is similar, only you use a rope to tie two family member's legs together.

For the water race, you'll need tablespoons, a couple cups with lines drawn on them and a bucket of water. Set the cup up on the opposite end of the field. Divide family members up into teams. The first member dips the spoon into the bucket of water and then races over to the cup and dumps any water remaining on the spoon into the cup. Then, they race back and hand the spoon to the next person. The first team to fill their cup with water, wins!

Relay races are great family reunion games sure to leave a smile on everyone's face!

GUESS WHO?

This game requires a little pre-family reunion prep. You'll need to request that each family member send in a picture or two of themselves in their younger days. Once you receive the pictures, place a number on the back, and then record who the family member is on a separate piece of paper (along with the corresponding number). At the reunion, pass out pieces of papers with numbers on them. Pass around the pictures and have everyone guess who is who. You may want to offer prizes both for the winner and the loser. This family reunion game not only tests people's ability to recognize their extended family members, but it also brings up all sort of fond memories of the good old days!

FAMILY TRIVIA

Again, this game requires some pre-planning. Much like the Guess Who game, you'll need to ask each family member for a piece of trivia that you think no one else in the family would know. For example, if you were Little Red Riding Hood in the school play in 1st grade, you might send in, "I made my onstage debut at the age of 7." not only will you learn a lot about the entire extended family, you will have a good laugh or two in the process!

These are but a few of the family reunion games you can plan. Regardless of how many you play, be sure to enjoy your family during the time you're able to spend with them!

Why Children Board Games? Board Games Are Fun, Mind Challenging, and Promote Family Togetherness

Children board games are an enjoyable way for families to come together, have fun and experience, excitement, competition, and intelligent ideas. A child needs to be very intelligent to win a quiz game, however, if you are playing some game based on probability and dices; you do not need to be as sharp. But game playing children usually become sharper as their mind is well exercised due to game playing. The best thing about children board games is that by playing these games on a regular basis, you can find the best possible ways of getting together with your family. When all members of a family get together to play children board games, the feeling of togetherness is very important for family bonding.

If you look at games, from the children's from this point of view, you will find that these board contests are really special and rewarding. Scrabble, by far, is the most popular and recognized board playing challenges. It is a fun filled game and wonderful teaching tool; the game helps the children to think about words and increases their vocabulary. Scrabble, however, is not a very easy game. There is one major prerequisite; the players must have a good vocabulary.

Children board games are fun and family friendly. Cluedo is another family friendly board contest. In Cluedo the family members or kids playing the game have to find the murderer by rotation of cards. In this game one needs to think a lot. The brain thus gets exercised and thus this game is a very healthy one from this point of view. These board games are fun. Not only the kids but also the adults enjoy playing these games most of the times. It is fun and enjoyment and a feeling of togetherness which these games give. Enjoy these games with your kids and your family members. Remember when you think of children board games, also think fun, excitement, competition, and always, family.

Summer Game - Winter Game - A Fun Family & Group Game For Any Season

This is the perfect game for that next hot summer day... and that next cold winter day! Wait... a game for both winter and summer... is that right? Yes, 'Wet Launch' can be adapted no matter what the weather is like outside, and it is an extremely fun game regardless of when you play. Although it is just one of the many fun summer / winter games, it is one that kids, youth, and adults seem to enjoy the most - whether it is summer or winter!

WET LAUNCH

# of Players: 4 or more

Objects Needed: Water Balloons, Buckets (or snow)

To begin, divide everyone playing into pairs - one person from each pair will be the thrower, and the other will be the catcher. Then, form a throwing line where the throwers from each pairwill throw from; and about 40-50 feet away, each pair will have their own 10x10 foot area (box) where the catcher will stand in. (These 10x10 foot boxes will be side by side in a horizontal row parallel to the throwing line, with about 5-10 feet in between each 10x10 box). The catchers will each stand in their respective box with a bucket, and the throwers will thus spread out along the throwing line directly across from their partner's box. Then, fill up roughly 100 water balloons in preparation, and each thrower will start with 5 water balloons each.

Each thrower will get 5 throws, and will throw the water balloons to their catcher in the box. The catcher is trying to catch the water balloon(s) in the bucket, and keep as much water in the bucket as possible. However, catchers can not leave the box when attempting to catch a balloon; thus, if a bad throw would cause the catcher to leave the box, it does not count if the catcher has to leave the box to catch it. After the 5 throws, each pair will switch places, and the new thrower will likewise throw 5 water balloons to their partner. Then, after those 5 throws, each team will empty their bucket of water into a different team bucket (simply to just hold water between throws). Then, players will switch roles again and start another round doing the same thing. The pair that has the most water in their team bucket after each player has thrown 3 times is the winner (use a ruler or yard stick to measure the water)!

VARIATION: To play this fun game in the Winter time - rather than using water balloons, simply use snow balls and try to be the team to collect the most snow in your team bucket!
